Ir Dr Phang Swee King is an Associate Professor and the Programme Director for the Mechatronics Engineering programme at Taylor’s University Malaysia, where he leads academic strategy and curriculum development to prepare students for careers in intelligent systems and automation. He also serves as Deputy Director of the Digital Innovation and Smart Society Impact Lab, promoting interdisciplinary research that connects emerging technologies with societal advancement.

Ir Dr Phang is a Professional Engineer registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), an ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer, and a Senior Member of IEEE. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and holds an h-index of 22. His research is primarily focused on drone technologies, progressing from control system design and autonomous path planning to current work in AI-based applications for aerial robotics. His work explores how intelligent algorithms enhance perception, autonomy, and mission execution in dynamic environments.
